Aquaman: Into the Bat-Verse?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Jason Momoa teases whether or not both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton will appear in the sequel.
Jason Momoa recently shot additional photography for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but what caught DC Extended Universe fans by surprise was the fact that Ben Affleck suited up as Bruce Wayne once again for the reshoots, leading to much speculation as to whether or not that means he will be taking over the role as Batman again over Michael Keaton in the DCEU.
Michael Keaton is currently set to reprise his role as Batman in The Flash, and before Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the plug on Batgirl, it appeared that he will be taking over as the DCEU’s main Caped Crusader following the release of Andy Muschietti’s superhero film that will star Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster. Reports also claimed that Keaton was set to appear alongside Jason Momoa in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but with Ben Affleck involved, some are wondering if Warner Bros. is shelving their future plans with Keaton.
Well, at the premiere of his third and final season for the AppleTV+ series See, Jason Momoa teased the presence of Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In fact, he may have teased the appearance of both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, he tells AP Entertainment:
Jason Momoa reunited with Ben Affleck on the "Aquaman" sequel set, and he says there may be even "more Batmans" in next year's @DCComics film. pic.twitter.com/1QtVBt1QWl
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was delayed yet again to a December 2023 release. With the film hitting theaters after The Flash, and with Ben Affleck looking to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne again, does this mean that Michael Keaton will only be making a one-time appearance in the Ezra Miller film? Or could this mean that he may find himself stranded in the DCEU following Barry Allen’s rupturing up the Multiverse? Looks like we’ll have to wait until next year to find out. Either way, Jason Momoa is clearly excited to reunite with Affleck once again.
Here is the upcoming Aquaman sequel’s synopsis:
When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.
Directed by James Wan, the upcoming sequel stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin, Vincent Regan as Atlan, Jani Zaho as Stingray, Indya Moore as Karshon, and Game of Thrones star Pilou Asbæk in an unknown role.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on March 17, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming DC film, as well as what’s to come from Jason Momoa, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
